She wiped his tears and held his hand.
I am writing this on behalf of my friend. The reason I feel like this nurse is a super nurse is due to the fact that she left a large impression on him. My friend had been admitted to 7 West. He was his mother's caregiver, and as he was wheeled into the unit, he got a call that his mother was dying in the Emergency Department. He called me devastated, but at the same time, confused since not much information was given to him. Nurse Diana had been informative and educational with him. She helped him stay calm in a moment of craziness. Diana gathered a team and took him downstairs to the Emergency Department, which was a lot of effort since he needed to be on a BiPAP machine. She was very caring and held his hand through it all. In the Emergency Department, she allowed him enough time to say his final goodbyes to his mother. She wiped his tears and held his hand. My friend was very touched by this nurse. She didn’t leave his side once. She even came to check in on him throughout the day, and we later came to find out that she was not even his nurse. I don’t know if anyone else would have done what she did for him. To gather a team and give him the opportunity to say goodbye to his mother, not to mention the effort and time it took. She’s amazing. She was his guardian angel that day, and we thanked her multiple times. I caught her tearing up when she wheeled him back into the room. She showed us that, no matter how amazing a nurse she is, she is also human. Diana cares and shows compassion in how she carries herself. My friend will eternally be grateful to her. Superhero nurse is an understatement. Bless her.
