Our late-night talks and card games are still such fond memories from such a horrible time.
I remember the time you told me about one of your former patients who sent you their graduation pictures to let you know they made it. Well, guess what - I made it, Chelsea. I wanted to let you know that not only did you change my life, but you also saved it. I feel like people say that kind of stuff all the time just for the sentiment, but in my case, I mean it literally. Because of you, I've been able to graduate high school, get into ACC (for nursing, btw), have two jobs, and get through everything else that made me want to give up. You helped me through an even worse time than I went through before I met you, and look! I'm still kickin' it. I still listen to "The Words I Would Say" -Sidewalk Prophets. It really helps me remember how much I am loved and reminds me to 'just do it anyway'. You have no idea how many times I have said those words to myself and how many times they have helped me. I still have up and down days, but I always end up OK in the end. You have seen me through my absolute worst, but you were always there and you always stuck by me, and it makes me know that I was never alone, even if all you could do was bring me Crystal Light ice, it made all the difference. Our late-night talks and card games are still such fond memories from such a horrible time. That one night is mostly blocked from my memory, but I will always remember the comfort and safety I felt from you holding my hands. You are my #1 inspiration for pursuing nursing. I want to help people the same way you helped me because maybe I can save some lives too. I don't think there is a word in the dictionary to describe how much you helped me and how grateful I am that I met you. The mindset you gave me, and just the love in my heart I have for you, and the things and memories, and thoughts and drive you have given me. I didn't think I would make it past my 16th birthday, but here I am at 18, graduating high school. Even with everything that tried to stop me, I did it anyway! Thank you for giving me the chance to "do it anyway"!
