I was called to help Brooklyn put a midline in her patient’s arm. The patient was developmentally delayed, and while this process could be very scary to the patient, she explained what we were going to do in such a calm manner and in a way she would understand.

Then, while we attempted to get the midline in, she sang and played with the patients’ toys to distract her for the whole 20 minutes this took. This can be a very uncomfortable procedure, and the patient barely looked uncomfortable, in pain, or scared, and I really think it was all because of her kind and caring behavior, plus her great singing to the patient.

After I was all done, she hugged the patient and kept telling her how great she did and the patient looked so happy. She was in awe of Brooklyn. Her sweet, kind heart really shows in the way she cares for her patients. She’s amazing.
