Alesandra is the very definition of everything the DAISY Award embodies. Alesandra doesn’t just lead; she is always right there beside every nurse, tech, EVS, and dietary team member who needs her. Her calm demeanor in the midst of some of the most stressful situations sets her apart. She reaches patients when they are at their lowest points in ways that amaze me. When you look up “Nurse” in a dictionary, there needs to be a picture of Alesandra Saunders.

Alesandra is the nurse, the nurse leader, and the nurse manager who sets the example. Anyone who has met her, patients' family, and staff would all agree. She leads in a team-like fashion. I personally strive to be better as a nurse and a person because of her. She simply is the best. She recently took on the role of manager in our department, as our manager is on leave. In this new role, she is doing it with grace as if she’s been doing it forever, while still checking on all of us and the patients.
