I would like to nominate Gayle Ritchie for the DAISY Award. Gayle is a major asset to the NICU. Her multitude of knowledge, advocacy, kindness, and love for her patients and families is seen every day. She is also among an elite group of nurses who place PICC lines in our population. Gayle was asked to go out of her comfort zone to place a PICC in a 10-month-old cancer patient. Her success in the placement gave the patient and family much hope for the chemo to start immediately. She is not just a valuable employee to the NICU, but to Hurley Medical Center as a whole.
