Mykelle is the definition of advocacy. They work hard for their team every single day on and off the unit. They are always one of the first people to wish a staff member a Happy Birthday or recognize them for an amazing achievement, and make sure they feel celebrated. They make themself seen on the floor and are always offering a helping hand, whether it's hanging your TPN, collecting labs, or passing some medications, they make helping out their team a priority.

When the night shift is short, they come in early at 4 AM or even earlier. The way people light up when they see them in the hallway truly shows how accepted, loved, and trusted they are. An open-door policy allows staff to feel safe and welcome to come discuss anything and everything. There is no doubt Mykelle cares about not only your professional growth but also your personal well-being. Not only do they get excited for people and their goals, but they also offer whatever support is needed to achieve those goals, even if it means they are not with our unit in the future.

When there is conflict in the unit, they make sure everyone feels heard and strive to resolve the issue quickly. When it comes to team building, they make it fun and accessible for everyone. They work hard to grow and enhance the culture in our unit every day. It is truly such a blessing and privilege to work alongside them. Mykelle is the reason longevity at Porter and especially on our unit exists. They keep their word and lead by example. Leadership is what they were meant for. They are a good friend to anyone and a wonderful leader to all; Advent Health is lucky to have someone as positive and bright as this nurse.
