Ultimately, I felt trust, confidence, and security to have my mother in your hospital, having Regan at her side.
My mother came into your hospital via ambulance to the ER with a diagnosis of sinus sick syndrome. She arrived on. Saturday morning, my mother met with the EP physician, and the plan was for her to receive a permanent pacemaker the following Monday. I am an 18-year bedside cardiac nurse and would like to acknowledge the nurturing and efficient way Regan cared for my mother on that Saturday morning.
After the EP doctor left her bedside, my mother’s heart had different plans for when it needed the permanent pacemaker. My mother started having pause after pause, becoming more and more symptomatic. Regan called a code RR and contacted the physician. The physician decided to continue to monitor. The pauses continued and grew to up to 6 seconds in length; this went on for hours.
As a nurse, I had concerns and was becoming more vocal with my distress. Regan managed the situation very professionally, acknowledging my concerns and my mother’s condition. She was a wonderful advocate for both of us. My mother ultimately received a temporary pacemaker and started to feel better and more like herself; I felt much safer about the situation. Ultimately, I felt trust, confidence, and security to have my mother in your hospital, having Regan at her side. Thank you for taking care of my mother.
