I’d like to take a moment to share a truly inspiring story that reflects the heart of our mission and the exceptional character of one of our nurses, Tavia. Tavia responded to a call bell from a patient. During their conversation, the patient shared that the physician recommended that she remain hospitalized for further testing due to medical concerns. However, she was deeply worried about her husband, who resides in a skilled nursing facility, as she visits daily to feed and care for him.

Recognizing the patient’s distress, Tavia compassionately explained the importance of prioritizing her own health. She then offered to visit and assist the patient’s husband. With the patient’s permission, Tavia drove to Ormond Beach twice that week, feeding him, supporting his PT/OT sessions, and even facilitating phone calls so the couple could stay connected.

The patient shared that she had undergone surgery and was very ill during her stay. She expressed deep gratitude for Tavia's selfless support, saying she couldn’t thank her enough for going above and beyond. Tavia's actions are a powerful example of what it means to truly serve others. She listened, acted with compassion, and gave her time to help someone in need, making a lasting impact on both the patient and her husband.
