She made an incredibly difficult experience one filled with compassion, comfort, and strength. I’ll never forget her kindness and the way she made me feel safe and supported during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life.
Shannon was my nurse during my 44-hour labor, and I truly cannot imagine having gone through that experience without her. I was admitted for an induction due to decreased amniotic fluid, but after a long and difficult process, my labor didn’t progress and ultimately resulted in a C-section.

I had planned for a natural, unmedicated birth, so needing much more medical intervention than expected was incredibly emotional for me. Throughout every step, Shannon was my constant source of reassurance and calm. She took the time to explain each procedure in detail, made sure I understood what was happening, and continually reminded me that even though my birth wasn’t going according to plan, it was still valid and, most importantly, that my baby and I were safe.

When my baby's heart rate began to drop due to the induction medication, several nurses rushed in to act quickly, and Shannon stayed right by my side, explaining everything as it happened. Her calm presence turned what could have been a terrifying moment into one where I still felt informed and cared for. When the decision was made to proceed with a C-section, Shannon again walked me through every step.

She stood beside me as the OB and anesthesiologist explained the procedure, and when it came time for the spinal tap, she was the one physically holding me up. She stayed with me through the entire surgery and continued caring for me and my baby as I recovered from the side effects afterward. She didn’t just take care of me, but she cared for my husband as well.

He was distraught watching me labor for so long and then face surgery, and Shannon went out of her way to reassure him and answer his questions. Once Shannon brought us to the postpartum unit, I was genuinely sad to say goodbye to her. She made an incredibly difficult experience one filled with compassion, comfort, and strength. I’ll never forget her kindness and the way she made me feel safe and supported during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life.
