Through her efforts, the patient was not alone; she was surrounded by warmth, respect, and a sense of belonging.
I would like to recognize Aletha for the DAISY Award for her extraordinary compassion, empathy, and dedication to patient-centered care. A few months ago, Aletha cared for a patient who had no family and was nearing the end of life.
Recognizing the importance of dignity, love, and human connection during such a vulnerable time. Aletha went far beyond the expectations of her role. She thoughtfully arranged a beautiful memorial service, bringing together staff nurses, physical therapy, chaplain, dietary services, educator, manager, doctors, and nurse practitioners to honor the patient’s life.
Through her efforts, the patient was not alone; she was surrounded by warmth, respect, and a sense of belonging. Aletha created a meaningful memory that deeply touched us all. Aletha’s actions reflect the true spirit of nursing. Her kindness and unwavering commitment to honoring her patient makes her truly deserving of this DAISY Award.
