Jen is the supervisor for the House Supervisors and is instrumental in our department. Jen exhibits all the qualities of servant leadership. Jen is available to us as a team 24/7. She passionately works to grow us as a team and further the image of House Supervision to all departments and get us a seat at tables we were not part of years ago. She encourages our growth and participation in the hospital-wide committees. She creates databases for resources/information that are at our fingertips. She manages our schedule, education, and performance evaluations. All while she is still working as a House Supervisor, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. She demonstrates commitment, resiliency, and professionalism. Jen makes me, as a House Supervisor, feel "seen". Because of her tenacity, awareness, and attention to detail, we stay updated and aware of any major changes. She has the ear of many leaders and is well respected. Compassion… she takes care of her people and patients. She is always known to bring food, snacks, and anything else to help manage some of our challenging patients on units. The morgue is our unit!! There is no one other than Public Safety who may grasp and understand the workings of the morgue. Jen takes "care" of our descendants and their loved ones as if they were her family/loved ones. It takes compassion, kindness, reverence, and empathy to speak with family members, other departments, loved ones, staff, physicians, and, of course, funeral homes. Her tone and demeanor are nothing but remarkable.

If you polled any staff that works weekends, they know and love Jen. She is helpful and knowledgeable. She prepares for her weekend well before Friday. As I said earlier, she works all week behind the scenes in meetings and doing work that she is unable to perform while working as a House Supervisor on the weekends. Jen challenges us and sets up educational opportunities to help us as a team be more informed and prepared for situations that arise. We feel valued and supported. The patients and staff are directly affected by Jen's amazing leadership qualities. She is an example of the leader that Novant promotes and wants to nurture others.
