Tracy Arnold is the most considerate and thorough professor I have ever had and genuinely cares about all of her students.
I would like to nominate Professor Arnold for the DAISY Award due to her dedication to her students. After taking 3 classes with Professor Arnold, I can wholeheartedly say that you are not just another student to her. Professor Arnold takes the time to get to know each and every one of her students, both in and out of a school setting. Before lectures, and during break time during class, Professor Arnold can be found walking around her lecture halls and classrooms talking to all of her students. During this time, she asks them questions about school, clinical, and other topics, such as their weekends or what they are passionate about. Professor Arnold makes her students feel seen and important with these kind gestures.

After her lectures she is always available for extra help, on one occasion after a test I went and discussed my performance with her. I expected Professor Arnold to tell me which questions I got wrong and why; however, she asked me for my thought process behind each question, both right and wrong, and used that input to formulate clearer test questions for future exams.

While lecturing, it is also obvious how passionately she feels about the subjects she teaches. When Professor Arnold begins a lecture, it is almost electric and impossible not to fully pay attention to every word she says. She involves in-class activities that motivate her students and allow them to understand the content fully. She also offers extra practice problems and case studies for students to utilize after class. Professor Arnold emphasizes mental health and self-care in her students. I can fondly remember a particular day when I walked out of a tough adult Health Two exam, feeling upset about how I performed. She instantly noticed the look on my face as I left the exam room and pulled me aside to tell me to take a minute to center myself and take a deep breath. I then left the room, and by the time I had walked from the health and human services building to my car in the Davis Street garage, I saw an email pop up on my phone from Professor Arnold. It simply stated that she could tell I was not feeling good about my results. She offered to meet with me to improve my mood, and then said we could schedule another meeting on a different day to review the exam. This simple gesture meant a lot to me, as most professors would not notice such a small expression.

Professor Arnold, on another occasion, walked by me in the hallway of the health and human services building while I was studying for a test. She stopped what she was doing and approached me to see how I was feeling. Knowing I was upset and stressed, she put her hand on my shoulder and told me that if I ever needed to talk or wanted some support, her office door was always open. I took her up on this offer, and she took the time to help me utilize different studying techniques and helped me review content for various classes. She was also an active listener for other issues I was having in my personal life. She offered feedback and continued to stress the importance of self-care. I would like to thank Professor Arnold for her commitment to her students in and out of the classroom. I would not be where I am today if I had not had her constant support.

Tracy Arnold is the most considerate and thorough professor I have ever had and genuinely cares about all of her students. She helped me get through my summer classes and really takes the time to get to know all of her students and make us feel comfortable in her classes.
