After maybe an hour or so, she was back with a smile and a fully loaded phone in her hand!
My son brought me to the ER to seek treatment for a 6-day-old cough coupled with a 6-day-old fever, body ache, and general weakness. X-ray and blood test revealed I had pneumonia and hemolytic anemia, a double trouble for an octogenarian. I was given antibiotics that same night to reduce my fever and body aches. It was the following day that my anemia was addressed. It was also that day when I first met Xiaona, a very friendly, patient, caring nurse. I felt like I was assigned a sister, one who is approachable, helpful, kind, responsive, resourceful, and all around nice. I couldn’t find an outlet to charge my iPhone inside my room. I needed to charge it badly because I got a red bar indicating that I needed to charge it right away. Xiaona took my phone and my charging cord and almost assured me that my phone would get its power back. Lo and behold! After maybe an hour or so, she was back with a smile and a fully loaded phone in her hand! I complained to her about a moldy grape I was served for breakfast. She complained to the manager right away, and then nutrition came and apologized and replaced the whole pack with grapes and bananas. I give her a lot of credit because she puts a lot of value on her work and how she professionally interacts with her patients!
