Lauren was Dad’s first nurse when he was admitted on Monday morning. He has since been moved up to the IMCU (4th floor) as his condition has worsened. Lauren was a consummate professional while simultaneously being familiar, friendly, and truly loving. She is one of those people with whom our lives will cross for only a couple of days, yet she will have an indelible impact on us for the rest of our lives. She made time to check with and follow up with the doctors regarding Dad’s eye drops and medications. She made a point to confirm their compatibility, particularly in regard to his eyes, which made Dad much more comfortable.

Lauren did her best to accommodate any food requests Dad may have had, and she checked up on him constantly. She patiently looked at his pictures of his dog, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She laughed at his stupid jokes and treated him with the utmost dignity. She was positive and optimistic while still being realistic – which is an exceptionally fine line. I wish her great fortune in her new life. Her soon -to-be husband is very, very lucky indeed.
