From the very first day, Summer was cheerful, courteous, attentive, and professional. After my wife's surgery, she was able to make her feel better and help her understand the things she needed to do to facilitate recovery. She got answers to our questions about the course of surgery and the recovery from anesthesia. My wife was in extreme pain, and Summer worked quickly to relieve the pain and explained the options available to minimize her pain. She was attentive to all our needs, from getting food and linens to helping my wife get comfortable in bed, to advocating for increased independence in diet and activity when others wanted more restrictions. This gave us a sense of dignity and respect that could easily leave us feeling powerless and like we were second-class citizens with no say in how my wife's treatment was to proceed. Summer made us feel that she sincerely cared about our situation and was trying to give us some independence while ensuring our safety. Each time she entered the room, we felt as if an old, trusted friend had come to visit and take care of us. We hope that she is successful in her pursuit of an advanced practice degree. We think she is one of the best nurses with whom we have encountered. My wife and I are medical professionals, so we know a good nurse when we see one. Summer is a gem.
