Kurt then went above and beyond and gave her a stuffed animal to hug during any other procedure she needed. He truly was one of the most compassionate RNs we have encountered.
We dreadfully brought our 1-year-old into the ED at 8 pm on Tuesday. We were lucky enough to have Kurt triage us. Our 1-year-old was not happy to be there and did not enjoy anything being done to her.
He attempted to engage her and get smiles. As her parents, we felt heard, and our opinions were valued. He was thorough and efficient in the tasks he needed to complete. At the end, he offered us a quiet spot to wait, so she was able to fall asleep.

Despite the stressfulness of having a 1-year-old in the ED, this nurse made us feel comfortable and, most importantly, valued.
