Her empathy, patience, and tireless advocacy changed our lives.
I am honored to recognize Nurse Rachel for her exceptional compassion, professionalism, and dedication to patient care. Rachel cared for my baby during his hospitalization for infant botulism — an extremely rare and frightening condition. What could have been an unbearable experience for our family was made bearable, and even hopeful, because of Rachel's extraordinary care.
From the first day we met her, Rachel demonstrated a level of skill and empathy that went far beyond what we expected. She treated our baby as if he were her own child, gentle in every interaction, fiercely protective, and fully invested in his recovery. Rachel didn’t just provide outstanding clinical care; she truly advocated for him. She collaborated closely with doctors and spoke up when she saw opportunities to improve his care plan, and made sure that every detail was handled with precision and compassion.
She even went out of her way to check in on him when tо he wasn’t her patient and even on her day off. Rachel also took care of us as parents. She recognized how frightened and helpless we felt, and she made it her mission to keep us informed, empowered, and supported. She explained complex medical details in clear, reassuring language and always made time to listen to our questions and concerns. She carried herself with such calm and kindness that it gave us the strength to keep going.
It was clear that nursing isn’t just a job for Rachel — it’s a calling. Her empathy, patience, and tireless advocacy changed our lives. Thanks to her dedication, my son received the best care possible, and we as a family found hope in the middle of fear. We will never forget Rachel's compassion, her professionalism, or her heart. represents everything the DAISY Award stands for and embodies the mission values of Dignity Health. There is truly no one more deserving of this recognition.
