I was a first-hand recipient of the I-CARE principles from Nurse Browne while traveling at Fort Campbell Army Post. 

While there, and low on my supply of medication, I reached out to the Endocrinology Clinic at Zablocki VA Medical Center. Since it was an unplanned trip right before a holiday, and getting a medication filled would be nearly impossible at an outpatient pharmacy over the coming days, I expressed a sense of urgency in my message.

Nurse Browne then exhibited a supreme level of Advocacy toward me and my situation with prompt replies and extensive efforts on her part to secure the medication from the outpatient pharmacy at Fort Campbell.

Nurse Browne demonstrated the utmost respect towards me as she honored my request thoughtfully and expediently, knowing my situation and the angst it gave me without judgment.

She clearly demonstrated excellence and integrity at the Fort Campbell pharmacy, which did not normally accept faxed prescriptions, by explaining the situation to them and convincing them to accept faxed prescriptions.

It was Nurse Browne’s Commitment to diligently serve me as a Veteran. She spent about two hours making phone calls on my behalf, waiting on hold for the vast majority of the time, to get the job done!

And what really impressed me was the combination of all the I-CARE Values she exhibited that day by staying late on the day before the holiday weekend, missing part of a birthday party to boot, to ensure I wasn’t left helpless during that time.

She did it because she truly does care, and that showed in my interactions with her that day.
