David is a nurse who is clearly in the right career. He is a strong advocate for all patients and staff. He is calm in the face of chaos and helps guide others to remain calm as well. David consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of him, frequently responding to code greys throughout the hospital to offer assistance. During a long code grey on my unit, David helped to educate staff, security, and doctors on protocols/policies/laws that pertained to the situation. David stayed in my unit for well over an hour, helping us create a care plan and ensuring staff felt comfortable moving forward. He even came back to the unit a short period later to check in and see if we needed any more help. The entire situation was handled better because of David. He was, and is, extremely knowledgeable, resourceful, and an incredible nurse to work with. As a hospital, we have an extremely high number of patients who struggle with a wide variety of psychiatric, behavioral, and cognitive issues that can be challenging for staff to understand and navigate. David educates staff and helps to ensure we are all well-equipped to provide high-quality, compassionate care to all our patients. The staff and patients of Northwest Hospital are incredibly lucky to work with David.
