Wendy has consistently elevated the quality of care for Veterans. Her dedication to performance evaluation and improvement has led to significant advancements in patient outcomes and safety.
I am honored to recognize Wendy Barba, MSN, RN, CCM, for her exceptional leadership, compassion, and dedication to delivering outstanding care to our Veterans.

The following comments are mine, but I also want to include feedback from colleagues who have witnessed Wendy's remarkable work firsthand.

Wendy consistently demonstrates extraordinary leadership in cardiac care management, ensuring seamless coordination between primary care, the Ann Arbor VA Cardiology team, and community providers. Her expertise and guidance have been invaluable in developing our new cardiology hub and spoke program that provides critical cardiovascular care and access for rural Veterans.

One notable example of Wendy's exceptional care is highlighted by Amber Tobin, LPN:

“We had a Veteran walk into the clinic with an elevated BP. After the chart review, it was recognized that he had been followed by the Cardiology Hub and Spoke Team. When approached with details, Wendy did not hesitate to speak with the Veteran and develop a plan with him.”

This exemplifies Wendy's commitment to putting patients first and her ability to think critically in high-pressure situations.

Wendy's leadership extends beyond patient care to fostering a culture of ethical practice. She advocates tirelessly for Veterans and colleagues, ensuring their voices are heard and respected. Her dedication to promoting equality of care for underrepresented Veterans is particularly noteworthy.

Kay Rogien, NP, shared:

“Wendy is a large part of the reason that we have been able to build effective relationships in the Lansing, Benton Harbor, and Muskegon CBOCs. She is always willing to help the PACT teams with Cardiology related issues and truly puts the needs of our Veterans first.”

This feedback underscores Wendy's collaborative approach and her commitment to delivering exceptional care.

Through her work on the Battle Creek Congestive Heart Failure Workgroup and her efforts to optimize telehealth services, Wendy has consistently elevated the quality of care for Veterans. Her dedication to performance evaluation and improvement has led to significant advancements in patient outcomes and safety.

I believe Wendy Barba embodies the values of the DAISY Award. Her leadership, compassion, and commitment to delivering outstanding care make her an invaluable member of our team.
