Venessa Rivas is one of the most genuinely compassionate and empathetic nurses I know. She always demonstrates a genuine willingness and nurturing attitude to help all the veterans and makes sure they are comfortably satisfied, even if it is just a little task or a warm blanket that they used.
She never complains and always tries to solve an issue at hand pertaining to the veteran. One day, during her rounds with a patient/veteran under her care. I walked into the room and waited for her to finish before I engaged the veteran/patients for an evaluation. It was then that I witnessed and heard Venessa interact with her patient/veteran.
She was very soft-spoken and gracefully made the veteran feel comfortable providing them with their medications and explaining what one was for. The veteran was concerned, and Venessa explained comprehensively and with such a gentle response as a mother would when explaining to their child, trying to take cough medicine. She stayed by their side, making sure they had everything they needed, and that she no longer had any concerns.
She reassured them that she would return to check on them and provided ways for them to contact the RN Station to reach her. All of this with an amazing attitude and pleasantness. She is a real angel and is truly meant to be an RN she is a true hero for our veterans. She treats all of her veterans and patients the same way. Venessa is truly a dedicated RN and a great member of our team.
