She made a point to check on him even when she was not assigned to his care, which provided J with comfort and reassurance and meant a great deal to our family.
I want to recognize this nurse for the exceptional care she provided to my fiancé's father, J, during his hospitalization. Throughout J's inpatient stay, Shannon consistently demonstrated professionalism, advocacy, and compassion that exceeded expectations. She not only attended to his medical needs but actively encouraged his recovery by promoting range-of-motion exercises and educating family members so they could assist him. Shannon was attentive, efficient, and showed positivity during every interaction. J's condition and demeanor were noticeably better on the days she was his primary nurse. J was inpatient for over a month, and seeing Shannon assigned to him provided our family with peace of mind. She made a point to check on him even when she was not assigned to his care, which provided J with comfort and reassurance and meant a great deal to our family. J's mental health suffered during his prolonged hospitalization and difficult prognosis. During these periods, she encouraged outings from his room, providing him with moments of relief, improved mood, and dignity. She was not simply a nurse; she was a stabilizing and guiding presence for both J and his family. Jim passed peacefully at home in hospice on January third, 2026.
