Barb: I can't say enough about how amazing she was during my post-op discharge from my hysterectomy... I was one of those patients who you think will never leave recovery. I had 2 simple jobs until I could go home... pee and walk the hall. Easy enough, right? Well, not for me. I spent about 6 hrs with multiple attempts to the restroom with no success, and every time I stood, I would vomit. Barb was by my side every step with words of encouragement and humor. I kept telling her how sorry I was, and she kept repeating to me that it was not my fault, and she had no other place to be besides my bedside.

Barb was on top of contacting my doctors as I continued to vomit, so that I could get some much-needed extra meds. She was trying every trick in the book to help my shy bladder... she was just simply my hero that day. I am a person who loves humor, and she kept our room fun and lighthearted. Our final laugh was my last restroom trip. After all, the standard tricks did not work, such as running the sink, etc Barb says, " Let's try some music," and turns on ACDC's Dirty Deeds, and wouldn't you know that was the key to unlocking hours of urination backup. We laughed and enjoyed the moment. I would love to tell Barb how special she was to me that day... I was unsure about having the hysterectomy and even rescheduled it for a later date, but she made my experience wonderful!
