I am writing to formally nominate Nurse Danny from the Neurology Department in Akron for recognition of his extraordinary care and professionalism. My mother was admitted through the emergency department and subsequently transferred to the neurology unit. During this time, our family received devastating news, including a diagnosis of a blood clot in her brain and metastatic cancer involving the membrane of her skull. It was an overwhelming and frightening experience for all of us. Through every moment of uncertainty, nurse Danny was a constant source of calm, compassion, and competence. He ensured my mother remained comfortable, carefully maintained her home medication regimen, and advocated for her needs. His attentiveness to detail and willingness to listen gave our family reassurance during one of the most difficult periods of our lives. Even amid severe winter weather, he made the effort to come in and provide care. His dedication to his patients is evident not only in his clinical skills but in the humanity he brings to his work.
