Elizabeth Munoz is described as being an outstanding leader, educator, and researcher whose work has made a real difference in maternal health across Alabama. Her leadership has made a powerful impact on her students. She takes time to meet with them one-on-one, offering guidance, encouragement, and support that helps them reach their goals.
She always makes herself available to students and does everything she can to support them in ways they need. She works hard to make sure students are prepared for clinicals, exams, boards, and beyond. Her colleagues admire her compassion, teamwork, and dedication. She leads with kindness and respect, always willing to help others grow.
Elizabeth is pushing midwifery forward in the state of Alabama. Through her research, Alabama Maternity Outcomes through Multi-Disciplinary Services (AL-MOMS), she has helped improve care for mothers by bringing together healthcare professionals to collaborate and provide better outcomes for families. Her mentorship has played a key role in helping at least six certified nurse-midwives begin their careers in Alabama, strengthening the state’s maternal care system.
She truly embodies the DAISY Award spirit by improving care, inspiring others, and making a lasting difference in the lives of everyone she works with.
