Felix cared for my 44-year-old son while he was on a ventilator for 12 days. He was one of many caring for him during this time. The staff was exceptional! Compassionate, dedicated, and truly cared! Felix stood out to me because he exhibited an overwhelming compassion, and visited him every day he was working. He checked on the family every day and truly went the extra mile to help reduce his anxiety and ours. What an extra special nurse and person he is!

Then there was Felix, who took nursing and compassion to another level, spending time explaining to me, his wife, what was going on. And when I asked, he answered again. Felix oozed with compassion; you knew he cared by the look he gave or the gentle touch. This man made the last week of my husband's life a little more tolerable because of his compassion. He talked to my husband with care each time he would give him a pill, an ice chip, or an IV, and was awesome at explaining the dialysis machine and process to my husband.

Felix was there at 7 a.m., and I will be eternally grateful for his presence when my husband passed at 10 a.m. I wasn't alone because of him. He made sure that my husband was cared for and treated with respect as he left for his next hospital destination, awaiting transportation to the funeral parlor. That young man is a credit to the Critical Care Unit at Beaches Baptist. I hope you will honor him in some way because compliments should be passed to the individual.
