Llegué al hospital con quemaduras de tercer grado en el 30% de mi cuerpo. Mi internamiento fue muy difícil; el dolor físico fue intenso, pero el dolor emocional lo fue aún más, ya que mi esposo falleció a causa del accidente.

La atención de la enfermera hacia mí en ese momento no fue solo la de una profesional de la salud. Su labor como enfermera fue excelente, pero además su calidez y su trato me reconfortaron profundamente. Siempre estuvo dispuesta a escuchar mi dolor; no necesariamente decía mucho, pero me escuchaba con el corazón, y eso me hacía sentir consolada.

Tuvo incluso el detalle de escribirme mensajes en las batas que usaban para atenderme, mensajes llenos de amor y empatía, los cuales ayudaron a levantar mi ánimo para poder salir adelante. The care the nurse gave me at that time was not only that of a healthcare professional. Her work as a nurse was excellent, but her warmth and kindness deeply comforted me. She was always willing to listen to my pain; she didn’t necessarily say much, but she listened with her heart, and that made me feel comforted.

She even took the time to write messages on the gowns used to care for me—messages full of love and empathy, which helped lift my spirits so I could move forward. I am grateful to God for her vocation and dedication to human beings who, like me, go through this kind of pain. Thank you very much.
