Desde el primer momento, ella nos brindó algo que no se receta ni se mide en dosis: su paciencia, su calidez y su corazón.
Fue la primera enfermera que nos recibió al llegar al hospital. Mi padre, de 82 años, había sido ingresado con diagnóstico de neumonía intrahospitalaria, luego de haber estado internado la semana anterior por otro motivo en otro hospital. Llegamos angustiados, agotados y sin saber qué esperar.
Desde el primer momento, ella nos brindó algo que no se receta ni se mide en dosis: su paciencia, su calidez y su corazón. Con pequeños gestos y una atención llena de dedicación, logró tranquilizar a mi papá… y a mí también. Porque cuando ves a tu padre enfermo, lo único que necesitas es sentir que no estás solo, y Margarita se convirtió en ese rayo de sol que, poco a poco, fue iluminando nuestra estadía.
Fue amable con mi papá, lo trató con respeto y ternura, pero también tuvo una paciencia infinita conmigo, que como familiar enfrentaba por primera vez una situación así. Me explicaba, me orientaba y, sobre todo, me hizo sentir acompañada.
Por su dedicación, su humanidad y por ser ese rayo de esperanza en uno de los momentos más difíciles de nuestras vidas, nomino a Margarita Hernández al DAISY Award, porque personas como ella realmente hacen la diferencia.

She was the first nurse who received us when we arrived at the hospital. My father, 82 years old, had been admitted with a diagnosis of hospital-acquired pneumonia, after having been hospitalized the previous week for another reason at a different hospital. We arrived anxious, exhausted, and not knowing what to expect.
From the very first moment, she gave us something that cannot be prescribed or measured in doses: her patience, her warmth, and her heart. Through small gestures and care full of dedication, she managed to calm my dad and me as well. Because when you see your father sick, the only thing you need is to feel that you are not alone, and Margarita became that ray of sunshine that gradually brightened our stay.
She was kind to my dad and treated him with respect and tenderness, but she also had endless patience with me, as I was facing a situation like this for the first time as a family member. She explained things to me, guided me, and above all, made me feel supported.
For her dedication, her humanity, and for being that ray of hope during one of the most difficult moments of our lives, I nominate Margarita Hernández for the DAISY Award because people like her truly make a difference.
