Coming to the hospital with an acute condition was a scary situation. The ERT staff provided excellent care and stabilized her heart. Upon being transferred to the 2 South wing, even greater care was provided. Mom's favorite nurse was Christie Toombs. Christie made this unnerving time much easier for Mom and our whole family. She was very attentive to Mom's needs and proactive in providing outstanding care. Christie was able to be serious when needed and also laugh with us to break the tension created by Mom's condition. Christie did everything she could to make her patient as comfortable as possible. She also checked on our family as well. We feel very blessed to have had Christie as Mom's nurse for 2 days! It was comforting to have someone who wasn't just here to work their shift but was called to care for patients in need. Christie deserves to be chosen as a DAISY Honoree for going above and beyond as a caring cardiac nurse.
