Danielle is compassionate, a nurse advocate, and professional, with superior communication skills, among other things. She has been a veteran ICU nurse for many years. As a nurse leader, I tend to worry about my nurses during off-shifts when clinical support and resources are less abundant. I have heard her name from my nurses over and over again, along with stories of how she made a huge difference for them during their shifts. One night, a nurse had her first code, and Danielle not only supported, guided, and educated her on what to do, but also followed up the following night to offer positive encouragement and effective feedback. Danielle not only has exceptional clinical skills, but she also encourages and empowers other nurses to grow their own practice. She fosters a positive, nurturing, collaborative relationship between ICU and stepdown nurses. She does not seek praise or recognition; she comes to work and makes a difference every day among her patients and her peers. She has no idea how much of an impact she has had on the growth of some of my newer nurses and, in turn, has positively affected the outcomes of our patients.
