I would like to nominate Nurse Amanda for the DAISY Award because of the meaningful impact she had on me during my shadowing in the Emergency Department. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel welcomed and included as part of the team. The ED can be fast-paced and overwhelming, but Nurse Amanda remained calm, focused, and compassionate with every patient she cared for. She took the time to explain her clinical decisions, involve me in patient care when appropriate, and answer my questions thoroughly. She didn’t just let me observe; she truly taught. What stood out most was her patience and dedication to teaching. She balanced high-quality patient care with mentorship, making sure I understood not just what she was doing, but why she was doing it. She modeled professionalism, critical thinking, teamwork, and compassion in every interaction. Nurse Amanda represents the kind of nurse I aspire to become. Her leadership, kindness, and commitment to both her patients and students make her truly deserving of the DAISY Award.
