I would like to proudly nominate our School Nurse, Mirela Velic, for the DAISY Award in recognition of her extraordinary compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our students, families, and staff.

Our nurse, Mirela, goes far beyond providing medical care. She is often one of the first to comfort a frightened child, the calm presence during a medical emergency, and a trusted support for families navigating health concerns. She treats every student with patience, dignity, and kindness, ensuring they feel safe, heard, and cared for—no matter how big or small the concern may be.

She consistently advocates for our students, collaborates seamlessly with staff, and communicates clearly and compassionately with families. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and deep knowledge are matched only by her genuine warmth and empathy. In moments of stress or uncertainty, she brings reassurance, confidence, and grace.

What truly sets her apart is her heart. She understands that nursing in a school setting is about more than bandages and medications—it is about building trust, fostering emotional safety, and supporting the whole child. Her presence makes our school a healthier, safer, and more nurturing place for everyone.
