I recently delivered my son at Englewood Health.  During my recovery on the Mother Baby Unit, I had the privilege of being cared for by Maria on the night shift.  

Maria cared for my baby and me for two nights following a traumatic C-section.  She provided care that went far beyond her clinical responsibilities.  

Maria demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and an extraordinary ability to make me feel truly seen and supported.  She was incredibly attentive to my pain management and recovery, ensuring that I was as comfortable as possible.

Maria monitored my medication schedule closely, frequently checking in on my pain levels and offering additional comfort measures to help me move, rest, and heal safely. Her diligence and sensitivity allowed me to focus on recovery with a sense of trust and reassurance, knowing that I was in the best possible hands.  

As first-time parents, my husband and I had endless questions and insecurities.  Despite the many demands of the night shift, Maria never once made us feel rushed.  She patiently taught us how to feed, burp, swaddle, and change our baby, taking time to explain each step with care and encouragement.  Her calm, confident approach gave us the reassurance we needed to begin this new journey as parents with confidence and joy.  

Maria’s compassion also extended beyond physical care.  One night, when I was experiencing “baby blues”, Maria offered empathy and gentle reassurance that what I was feeling was normal.  Her kindness brought me so much comfort and helped me feel less alone.
