Lydia was so kind to me, and her calmness and how she took charge of my care made me feel more comfortable and calm, which, as you can imagine, was a hard situation for me.
I came to the ER via ambulance in the middle of the night. I was 14 weeks pregnant with my 5th pregnancy. I have had one live birth, two miscarriages, and one stillbirth. So when I came to the ER experiencing heavy blood loss, I was very upset and scared.
Lydia took control of the situation in the most direct and caring way ever. She made sure to not only make me feel as comfortable as she could but also took direct charge in making sure everyone was doing what needed to be done. Lydia was very kind and made me feel comfortable, even though my clothes had to be cut away from my body, which does make you feel vulnerable.
All staff who needed to be called in for other testing, such as an ultrasound, she did before anyone ever told her to. The ER doctor, who was also very amazing, would ask for something to be done, and Lydia was either already working on it or had done it. She was even able to do a trickier I.V. placement, and I know this from all the outstanding comments from other staff members when they saw this done.

When I was stable enough for my husband to come back with me in the ER, Lydia was the one who helped him understand everything going on and what was a top priority for the medical staff. She also made sure he was able to stay with me while he signed paperwork and did other things that I couldn’t do myself due to my circumstances.
Lastly, before I was whisked off to surgery, Lydia made sure to tell the nurse taking me that my shoes would be waiting for me in the room I would be in. She cleaned my shoes for me before giving them back. The shoes were covered in blood. This may seem like a small thing, but to me it shows how important it is for her to show how much she cares for her patients.
Thank you, Lydia, for all the amazing care you gave me. Anyone who gets you as a nurse is beyond lucky and will be well cared for.
