I would like to nominate Whitney Stephens for her exceptional care, kindness, and outstanding nursing skills.
At the Hospice House, we are caring for a 39-year-old mother of four. Her 7-year-old son recently stayed overnight with his mom.
During his stay, he came to the nurses’ desk, wondering if they would be there all night. Earlier that day, he had lost two teeth and was worried that the Tooth Fairy might not be able to find him if he wasn’t at home. He hoped she would still know where he was.
Whitney took the time to reassure him that the Tooth Fairy could absolutely find him there.
Before anyone realized what she was doing, Whitney had created a special handwritten letter and envelope from the Tooth Fairy, placed two dollars I donated inside—one for each tooth—and quietly tucked it under his pillow.
This simple yet deeply thoughtful act brought immense joy to this little boy during an incredibly challenging and emotional time for him and his family.
Whitney’s compassionate actions exemplify extraordinary nursing care and heartfelt dedication. She truly has a heart of gold, and we are incredibly grateful for her presence.
