She anticipated ways to reduce my discomfort, and when something did not go as planned, she personally stepped in and advocated for me until it was resolved.
I would like to nominate Charleen Austin for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care and leadership in the Oncology/Infusion Center. Charleen consistently goes above and beyond for every patient while leading our nursing team with professionalism, integrity, and compassion. Her clinical expertise and commitment to excellence elevate care throughout the department. She works closely with management to improve understanding of departmental processes, contributing to safe and patient care.
Charleen is competent, thoughtful, patient, and genuinely kind. She provides patients with reassurance and empathy during some of the most challenging moments of their lives and treats everyone with dignity and respect. She extends this same compassion to her colleagues, serving as a strong leader and mentor. Charleen trains all new nurses, ensuring they feel confident, supported, and well prepared. She is one of the best nurses I have ever worked with and is highly deserving of recognition.
Charleen’s impact is also felt from a patient perspective. During my chemotherapy treatment, she made a meaningful difference in my experience. While all of the oncology nurses were special, Charleen stood out for her skill, shared humanity, and compassion. She anticipated ways to reduce my discomfort, and when something did not go as planned, she personally stepped in and advocated for me until it was resolved. I sincerely wish all medical professionals cared for patients with the same dedication and compassion Charleen shows every day.
