During the month of January, SLU was home to a pregnant young woman with Marfan’s Syndrome. She was housed here due to the high risk of specialized needs prior to her planned C-section.

After the safe delivery of her baby, Andy collected gifts for the new mother and baby. Andy’s awareness that this patient did not get to experience the normal joys of pregnancy, such as a baby shower, was uplifting. Andy recognized the emotional aspect of what this young woman was enduring and made a point to make her feel special.

Andy coordinated with the house supervisor of SLU and CG to safely transport the gifts to the new family. Andy is one of the most caring and genuinely thoughtful nurses I have had the pleasure to work with. This gesture is an example of how Andy goes above and beyond for his patients and truly embodies SSM’s mission statement.
