They have become my extended family. Their care has given more months of life, for which I will be eternally grateful.
It is a true honor to celebrate a team whose impact is felt in the moments that matter most—the quiet, meaningful, and deeply human connections that define exceptional care. This team embodies consistency, professionalism, and compassion in a way that goes beyond expectations. They show up every day with purpose, making a difference one patient, one visit, and one moment at a time. Not for recognition, but simply because it is who they are. Their work reflects a deep commitment to every patient and family member they serve, creating experiences that are not only clinically excellent but profoundly personal.
What makes this team truly extraordinary is best told through the voices of those who have experienced their care firsthand. The following nominations speak for themselves and capture the heart, dedication, and lasting impact of this remarkable group:
Patient 1:
"It is my great honor and privilege to nominate the Ambulatory Care Unit for this award. I have been a biweekly infusion patient at ACU for the past 3 years. During that time, I have been given opportunities to watch this unit with fascination. They are truly a remarkable group. They treat each of their patients as if they were attending to their own family members.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, filled with smiles and reassurance. It says a lot about their dedication when I observed the unit being relocated three different times during construction at the hospital. I never heard a negative word said; they all soldiered on under trying circumstances. Each visit is greeted with smiles, positive conversations, and family updates.
They have become my extended family. Their care has given more months of life, for which I will be eternally grateful. I truly hope the hospital realizes what a gem they have in the Ambulatory Care Unit. I have thought long and hard about which nurse to honor. I came to the conclusion that they all deserve recognition as they work to be the best unit the hospital has to offer.
I have searched my brain for a concise word to describe the unit. Then, one cold morning, walking in for another infusion, it dawned on me. Right outside the door, in big vertical letters, is the word Compassion. Enough said. Respectfully submitted from the heat, may God bless all my angels in the Ambulatory Care Unit!"
Patient 2:
"I have had the honor of getting the know and the privilege of getting to see (twice by the way) the nursing and management staff of this hospitals ambulatory care unit, care for my wife in such a professional way that I believe, no, I know, that they should not only be nominated but that they should be given about any and all others, both your DAISY and BEE Awards for being who they are, and for going far above and beyond their call of duty serving not only this hospital, but being a light that exemplifies this hospital's good name. Please honor them with both these awards, as they have honored you and have blessed my wife and me with their more than professional care and ability."
And so today, we celebrate not just what this team does, but who they are—consistent, compassionate, and deeply committed to making a difference in every life they touch.
It is with great pride and gratitude that we recognize the Ambulatory Care Unit as this year’s Team Award recipient.
