It is my great honor to nominate this nurse for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. For more than 20 years, she has been a dedicated and inspiring leader at AdventHealth Lake Wales, consistently demonstrating excellence, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to patients and staff alike. Sabrina is one of the most engaged and approachable leaders I have ever encountered. She leads with a kind heart, always making herself available to support her team in any capacity. No task is too small or too great - she steps in whenever she is needed, embodying the true spirit of nursing leadership.
Recently, Sabrina stepped in to cover the nursing supervisor role during a critical time. She ensured that patient flow from the Emergency Department to inpatient units was seamless and efficient, prioritizing both patient safety and experience. In addition to coordinating operations, she went above and beyond by personally assisting with difficult IV placements using ultrasound, demonstrating not only her leadership but also her exceptional clinical skill and willingness to remain hands-on.
Sabrina's dedication does not stop there. When reviewing patient charts, she conducts thorough, thoughtful analyses and continues to follow up, ensuring that patients and staff receive the support they need. Her attention to detail and proactive approach reflect her deep commitment to quality care. What truly sets this nurse apart is her genuine compassion. It is not uncommon to find her personally wheeling patients out to their cars at discharge. She uses these moments to connect with patients, providing a meaningful final touchpoint and ensuring they leave with a positive, lasting impression of their care. On one occasion, when assistance was needed to obtain a difficult blood specimen from a newborn, she immediately stepped in, demonstrating her readiness to support any patient, any team, at any time.
