During 2025, several Corewell Health East Emergency Centers experienced unplanned visits from the State of Michigan, during which gaps were identified in charting compliance related to our system policy. Recognizing the scope and significance of this issue, the Emergency Service Line determined that a unified, system-wide approach was necessary.

Jessica Wolf, Farmington Hills Emergency Center Nurse Educator, stepped forward and independently led this critical initiative. Through her leadership, Jessica partnered with Emergency Center leaders and educators across Corewell Health East to develop standardized educational materials, clear scripting, and robust auditing tools to ensure consistent practice and regulatory compliance across all CHE Emergency Centers.

Jessica’s unwavering commitment to team member education, compliance, and patient safety drove her to go above and beyond expectations. She ensured alignment not only at the local level but across the entire service line by formally presenting the materials to Emergency Center leaders and educators, establishing a shared understanding and consistent approach throughout the organization.

Understanding that the revised charting requirements represented a significant change for frontline staff, Jessica took extraordinary measures to support the bedside team. She developed thoughtful, non-punitive communication templates to notify team members of charting discrepancies in a supportive and educational manner.

In addition, Jessica spent weeks rounding in the Emergency Department, engaging staff face-to-face to explain the “why” and “how” behind the changes, reinforcing accountability while fostering trust and understanding.

Through her leadership, collaboration, and dedication, Jessica Wolf exemplifies the highest standards of excellence and professionalism. Her efforts have had a lasting impact on compliance, staff engagement, and patient safety across Corewell Health East Emergency Centers, making her highly deserving of this recognition.
