Every day, Melissa comes to work with a smile, a positive and caring attitude, and enthusiasm. She always does her best; she is calm in crisis; her bedside care is amazing; and while she will tell you she’s not a charge nurse, she is a leader who shares her knowledge and skills with her work teams. She will tackle tough patients, help her co-workers, and always keep the pulse on the department and its needs. She is a mom, a wife, and a foster mom at home, and she works very hard to maintain the best work-life balance for her family and work family. I don’t have a single standout patient care moment, but each of her patient encounters is good. We recently shared a very challenging mental health patient, and she always remained positive, focusing on the best interest of the patient physically and mentally, and even ended up helping their family members. She is someone that I personally try to model my actions and care after because she’s an amazing nurse. Thank you for inspiring us.
