Many would have seen this as unfortunate but beyond their role. Kristina did not.
One client in particular highlights the essence of Kristina's nursing heart.

The patient had been living unhoused for some time and walked several miles each day. For months, he endured significant foot pain caused by a piece of glass embedded in his foot, now covered by skin but still painful with every step. Many would have seen this as unfortunate but beyond their role. Kristina did not.

Recognizing a clear medical need, she took it upon herself to advocate fully and independently. She located a physician willing to see him at no cost. Kristina personally contacted the physician ahead of time, clearly communicating not only the foot injury but also other health concerns, including elevated blood pressure, sharing trends they had been carefully monitoring week after week.

She worked collaboratively to arrange free transportation and, just as importantly, took the time to ensure the client felt comfortable, respected, and willing to attend an appointment he had avoided for years.

When the client did not arrive for his scheduled transportation, Kristina's response spoke volumes. There was no frustration. No judgment. No disappointment directed outward. Instead, Kristina met him with grace and curiosity, seeking to understand the barriers that led to the missed appointment and finding ways to walk alongside him rather than pulling away.
