She has a perfect blend of professionalism, empathy, and humor to inform patients and family members while keeping them at ease.
Nurse Nia made the experience much better with her humor and kindness. She was gentle and attentive. She was responsive to my questions and made me feel listened to, which has been lacking as of late. She communicated with my family very clearly and made my experience better, and also put my family at ease.

Nia and everyone in the cardiac lab that day were patient and caring. Nia took care of me before and after the procedure. She made me feel safe and relaxed. The procedure was not successful that day, and I ended up having to stay in the hospital unexpectedly. Nia followed my progress as I was in the cardiac lab and knew I would need extra attention. She didn’t leave me until I was settled in my room for my hospital stay. She was patient and kind. I was scared because I had to lie flat and still got 6 hours. Nia reassured me it would turn out okay. She turned a stressful, unexpected situation into one I felt more confident in. I am thankful for Nia.

Nia was just so nice and caring in everything she did. And explained everything as she did it, so I knew what to expect. She is the nicest nurse I have ever had, and I have had quite a few in my time.

She even interrupted her pre-surgical prep, so our son (who stopped in during a break from his job) could give his dad a quick hug before surgery. In a time where patient numbers, insurance regulations, and short staffing are the norm, Nia made us feel like we were her only concern and her top priority. If the hospital needs someone to train new nurses and show, by example, what exceptional patient care looks like in real time, they should look to Nia. Outstanding.

I want to thank all of my good nurses when I was at Lake West for an ablation. Nia was so calm, and it seemed to be easy to also be calm when a person can feel the good care coming from the heart. All of the nurses were very kind and caring in everything and everything they did for me that day (getting warm blankets, etc.). May you be blessed and rewarded as you daily go about your work.

Nia was very kind and attentive to my husband on surgery day. He was in for a Watchman procedure with Dr. D. Our day was very long, as we were told to be at the X-ray at 7:45 am for a CAT scan. That never happened until 8:20 am. Everything ran late that day. No explanation was ever given to us in the X-ray department. Nia greeted us at 11 am, approximately, and was very efficient and kind to both me and my husband.
She was an “expert” in getting him ready for surgery. He finally went back at about 11:20 am. We were told a 90-minute procedure. Thankfully, she was his nurse after the procedure, and she was so kind and caring! She made him as comfortable as possible, even though he had to “lie flat” for 2 hours post-procedure. He, my husband, has pretty severe arthritis in his neck and back after 26 years as a fireman in Kirtland. She rolled up towels to help his neck as his head cannot “lie flat.” He was so cold after the procedure, and she quickly brought him two warm blankets. She kept us both well informed throughout the long day- we finally were home at 5 pm.
