Mallory really turned my hospital stay around.
Mallory received (6) Nominations:
1. Mallory and the nursing assistants created a space that felt steady and warm during a moment that was overwhelming. Dealing with a back issue at a young age can feel isolating, yet they approached every step with kindness that made the days easier to face. Mallory stood out with her attentiveness. She listened closely, responded with genuine care, and offered the kind of reassurance that settles the nerves. Her presence made the experience less frightening and reminded me that compassion can shift the entire atmosphere of a hospital stay.
2. My son had a PAO with labrum repair. Mallory was attentive and encouraging to him. She was able to share with us that she had the same procedure 1 year ago, and was very encouraging to my son with her story. I feel that all of the staff members we had during our stay were extremely helpful. However, Mallory is the one who stands out with her personality, enthusiasm, and encouragement.
3. I would like to nominate Mallory. Her characteristics: Kindness, Attentiveness, Caring, Authentic, Informative. Her care has been extraordinary. Thank you.
4. My husband was having his hip replaced. Mallory was assigned as his daytime RN on both days of his recovery. He is only 56 and having his hip replaced, and he is filled with anxiety about the pain and whether he will ever be able to walk and move normally again. Mallory was a gentle ray of sunshine. She always had a friendly smile and a kind word. Even though she had other patients to care for, she always made us feel like he was the only one. She made absolutely certain he was always comfortable, and pretty soon the anxiety of the expected pain disappeared, and he was able to laugh and joke.
On the last day in the hospital, Mallory could sense that my husband had anxiety about returning to our active lifestyle. She shared her own experience with having surgery on her hip, and she proceeded to demonstrate how well she could move. She encouraged him to stick with his physical therapy exercises when he wakes in the middle of the night! Mallory is a fabulous nurse. She was the first one in the room whenever he needed anything. Many nurses wait for others to answer call buttons, but Mallory answered every one and all with smiles and grace.
5. I’m 16 years old and had a PAO and arthroscopic hip surgery. Mallory did a wonderful job taking care of me. She was so helpful because she also had the same surgery that I did. She was so sweet and understanding and always made sure I wasn’t in too much pain. Overall, Mallory is a great nurse and deserves to have an award. Thank you, Mallory.
6. I am a dog groomer and cut myself off at work, to my surprise, my hand blew up like a balloon. The following week, I was in the ER, and before I knew it, I needed emergency surgery. Finally, I landed on the med-surg unit. It was such short notice that my husband couldn’t take off work to be with me, and I found myself alone, depressed, and in excruciating pain, so bad I couldn’t sleep.
My night nurses had trouble understanding me, and I felt completely hopeless. Morning came, and I knew I would be in the hospital for two more days at least, suffering. Then my morning nurse came with a smile on her face; she warmed my heart and really listened to my needs. She brought the doctor in, and they adjusted my medication and really showed me care and compassion. Mallory really turned my hospital stay around. She brought me joy knowing I’m an animal lover, shared stories about her dog, was attentive, and was the most compassionate healthcare worker I've ever met.
I finally had hope for my stay. I was so sad when she left, knowing I would lose her the next day, and to my surprise, she was my nurse again the next day! She really touched me with her care and stories, and I overheard she just lost a friend and was going to a funeral, and she still showed up at work and was an excellent nurse. She gives her job her all, and I can tell it’s not just a job for her; she loves what she does.
