Dawn Ivener has dedicated more than 12 years to Inova Transitional Care and many more years collectively supporting the mission of Inova, excelling in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

During her time with the Inova Transitional Care team, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, compassion, advocacy, and informal leadership. As a part-time team member, Dawn supports the clinic on its busiest days with remarkable tenacity, positivity, and a cheerful presence that benefits patients and colleagues alike. She mentors new staff, helps implement an improved weekly Safety Huddle format, and frequently provides real-time guidance on complex cases thanks to her extensive nursing experience.

Dawn routinely goes above and beyond to address both medical and social needs for patients, especially as a leader in supporting the most complex and challenging patients our department cares for. She offers creative solutions for all complex patient care and serves as a role model for her peers, having a positive impact on team culture.

With her retirement scheduled for June 18, 2026, Dawn expressed deep gratitude for her meaningful career at Inova. During her tenure with Inova Transitional Care, she has had a strong impact on maintaining department compliance with regulatory pharmacy requirements and has served as our primary liaison for our partnership with NovaScripts. She has also been a strong advocate for ensuring vaccination access for our patients and for keeping staff up to date on process changes each year.

Her positivity, kindness, and humility make her truly irreplaceable. Recognizing her with a DAISY Award is a fitting tribute to her extraordinary impact on Inova and the community.
