Nominating Violeta Cruz for the DAISY Award for extraordinary involvement during the TRIWEST transition and waiver process, going above and beyond for her patients. FHCC transitioned to a new Managed Care Support Contractor beginning January 2025. With this transition came multiple issues, including DHA approving a waiver process until June of 2025, which changes how the Referral Management Center processes its referrals to the network. TRIWEST is new to the area, which meant their portal required updating, including the network provider directory. 

As one of the DOD Referral Management RN, she assisted multiple patients having difficulty with their referrals being processed through TRIWEST. The TRIWEST portal did not provide accurate provider information in the network, or the TRIWEST call center representative provided misinformation, resulting in patients being referred to providers miles from their residences. Violeta gave her patients time and attention to ensure they were referred to the appropriate provider, either by communicating with a TRIWEST representative or by calling providers listed in the network to verify accuracy. She helped her patients, who were overwhelmed by the process, get the care they needed.
