Thank you for bringing the sunshine and warmth to what I expected to be a cold, scary place!
Reilly received multiple nominations this year! Three of them are below:
Nomination 1
The thought of a hospital always made me think of cold, stale rooms with little happiness or sunshine. That was until my experience delivering my first child at Coastal, when I realized it's the staff, in this case, it was Reilly, who brought all the warmth and sunshine that was missing. She went the extra mile to check on my husband, baby, and me throughout our admission, and was constantly a calm, clear voice of reason to explain what was happening at different times. She became a voice we could rely on, someone we looked forward to seeing, even in the middle of the night, to check vitals! She had great bedside manners and seemed to genuinely care about me, my husband, and, later, our baby boy once we delivered him! Thank you for bringing the sunshine and warmth to what I expected to be a cold, scary place!
Nomination 2
Reilly was my nurse for labor and delivery. I am a first-time mom and was not sure what to expect during labor, as I had never done this before. She thoroughly explained everything to my family and me and answered all the questions we presented. She was very encouraging throughout my labor process and constantly spoke life into me that I could successfully follow the plan I mentioned before labor. She allowed me to have the labor I anticipated before stepping into the hospital. She even stayed past her shift by 52 minutes to help and assist me with bringing my baby into this world!
Nomination 3
Reilly was kind, compassionate, attentive, and informative at every step of my labor as I brought my first baby into the world. I asked her to help me utilize positional changes and natural methods to cope with labor, and she assured me she would do just that. She came to my room every half hour to suggest position changes, offer encouragement and support, and help me find ways to cope with my contractions. When I became overwhelmed and very uncomfortable, she spoke so kindly to me, and gave me the confidence to keep going, reminding me to take it one breath at a time.
She provided nursing education when my husband and I asked questions, even left the room at one point to grab a diagram of cervical dilation to show us what 10cm looked like and explain how she checks. We learned so much about birth during our stay!
I gave birth at shift change and she promised me that she would not leave until I delivered my baby. She stayed past her shift to support me in the final stages of labor and made sure I was ok before she went home. I truly cannot stop thinking about how grateful I am for her kindness to me during such a special moment in my life. My birth story left me feeling empowered and supported, because she was my nurse. I was so scared when I arrived at the hospital, and now I am thinking about how excited I am to give birth again in the future.”
