His life was saved because of Christiane's attentiveness and quick response. This was the second time in two months that Christiane saved a patient by trusting her nursing instincts.
A veteran contacted his primary nurse, Christiane, to discuss a headache. Christiane noticed that his speech was slurred and he was having trouble finding the right words to speak. She advised him to go to the ER, but the veteran declined, believing that his condition was not serious. Still concerned, Christiane took decisive action and called 911 herself, staying on the line with the patient until EMS arrived.
When he reached the hospital, it was discovered that he was suffering from a brain bleed. His life was saved because of Christiane's attentiveness and quick response. This was the second time in two months that Christiane saved a patient by trusting her nursing instincts.
In another situation, a veteran walked in for a blood pressure check, suspecting it might be elevated. Not only was his BP high, but he was also experiencing new-onset atrial fibrillation and chest pain. Christiane quickly made another 911 call, and the veteran was transported to a higher level of care. There he was found to have nearly a 100% arterial blockage and underwent an emergency stent placement that saved his life.
It is truly an honor to work alongside Christiane and witness her dedication and passion for the well-being of our veterans.
