Sophia Dixon brings incredible energy and warmth into every room she enters. She doesn’t just care for patients – she uplifts them. Her presence gave A strength, confidence, and a real sense of connection. On a day she wasn’t even scheduled to work – she had come in for a baby shower – Sophia took the time to wash and braid A’s hair. At that point, we had been in the ICU for nearly 50 days. It wasn’t just a kind gesture – it was a powerful act of care. Taking that much time to help A feel clean, comfortable, and beautiful was an emotional reset. As Sophia worked on A’s hair, with A's mom nearby, it felt like a salon – a space full of conversation, joy, and dignity. That moment gave A a boost in confidence and spirit and reminded all of us what it feels like to be human beyond the hospital bed. We are deeply grateful for Sophia and the positive energy she gave A during a time we needed it most.
