She encouraged a culture of speaking up to improve workflows and systems.
Tracy dedicated 20 years of service to Kaiser Permanente, including 15 years in OMC Main PACU, before officially retiring on April 24, 2026. Throughout her tenure, she brought a wealth of knowledge to the unit, with a strong focus on fairness, organization, scheduling, and team cohesion. She developed a comprehensive scheduling template and call system that promoted work-life balance by ensuring shifts and opportunities were distributed equitably. Thoughtful and highly systematic in her approach, Tracy also trained others to sustain and carry forward the processes she built. In addition, she created a perioperative staffing template that continues to be used to effectively staff the units, and she remained committed to keeping PACU schedules current as staffing needs evolved
.
In a time of need, Tracy stepped up as a Relief Charge RN during her final years. Although initially hesitant about managing daily operations, her natural leadership quickly shone through, and she led her team with confidence, safety, and effectiveness.
Beyond operations, Tracy fostered a strong sense of community within the unit. She created a birthday recognition board to celebrate her peers and brought warmth and festivity to the workplace through her creative decorations, especially during the holiday season. Her passion for arts and crafts added a personal and uplifting touch that made the unit feel welcoming and connected.
A strong advocate for fairness and equality, Tracy consistently served as a voice for her peers. She encouraged a culture of speaking up to improve workflows and systems. Her impact on patient care was equally meaningful, as she simplified the Bariatric Discharge Guidelines, making them clearer and easier to follow, and supporting safe, efficient patient discharges.
Tracy’s legacy is one of dedication, creativity, advocacy, and leadership. She leaves behind a lasting impact that will continue to benefit both her colleagues and patients. She will be deeply missed. While we may have wished for her to extend her time with us, we celebrate her well-earned retirement and sincerely hope to welcome her back in the future as a per diem.
